My name is Geraldine Jay. I have been teaching French and English for 25 years in secondary schools, universities and in private lessons, in France and abroad. I have passed the Agrégation in English language, literature and civilization and a certification on French as a foreign language.

When I came back to Lyon, my hometown, in 2016, after years of expatriation (Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada), I decided to found my own language school to welcome and help expats as I had been welcomed in other countries. My goal is to help other travelers make a home of this beautiful city and therefore help them socialize, work, love, and laugh in French. And for some even become French citizens!

Having studied and taught extensively the English language, I can lean on the similarities of both languages and anticipate what is more challenging. French is a difficult language, it is true, but there is no need to suffer learning it! It can be made easier and more fun, especially by leaning on the structure of your own language.

For example, did you know that 40% of the words in English come from the French? And if we add words from Latin origin, we are way above 50%. See? You’re half-way there! 🙂

I am a sympathetic and passionate teacher and I will help you through your linguistic journey, through its highs and lows, taking into account your rhythm and needs, as I strongly believe that a safe and fun learning environment is the shortest way to success.
