Learn Your French is a language school for English-speaking expats in Lyon which is based on two pillars crucial to a satisfying integration:
the capacity to communicate in French and a community to rely on.
Language
Mastering the French language is essential to a successful and satisfying integration. Each lesson, each conversation workshop opens more doors to your life within the local culture.
French is said to be a hard language to learn, and it can be, but starting from what you already know in English will make it much easier. French and English share common words, structures and a common history. My mission is to use this to make you more confident and independent in your learning journey.
You cannot do without grammar to learn the language, but I will also help you understand spoken French and slang, which is used very commonly in everyday language.
What’s more, I will help you take your French language tests (DELF or TCF) if you need them for visas or naturalization. I have been preparing students for years and will teach you how to succeed and adapt to French examinations. This year, 100% of my students have successfully passed the DELF A2, B1 or B2!
I can also assist you to prepare for your naturalization interview and civics exam. 100% success also for our applicants who are now all French!
Community
Settling in a new country also means recreating one’s social circle. By joining the Learn Your French community, expats multiply opportunities of intercultural encounters and of creating new friendships or job opportunities. To achieve this, I organize events every other month for you to meet other students. These events take place in English as they are meant to be a social moment for you and your family to find friends or work connections. So far, we have organized a picnic, drinks, a game of pétanque, a tour of Lyon and we have shared a traditional French pastry at my home.
